Texas Tarpon Opportunities

August & September

Some fishing trips can be scheduled months in advance.

Sight casting tarpon in the Gulf out of Port O'Connor, TX is not one of them.

Every summer, conditions occasionally come together in a way that creates special opportunities. Calm seas, good water clarity, favorable tides, and rolling fish can combine to produce the kind of days that make sight-casting artificial lures to tarpon possible.

Those are the trips I’m looking for.

Rather than putting tarpon trips on my booking calendar months in advance, I keep a Tarpon Opportunity List.

When the conditions begin lining up and I believe we have a legitimate opportunity, I’ll reach out to those on the list to see who’s available.

Every tarpon trip is different.

Some days, we may spend more time searching than casting. Other days, the fish tell us exactly where they want to be. Like every fishery I guide, I let the conditions determine our approach rather than trying to force a plan that doesn’t fit the day.

If you’re looking for a calendar date months in advance, I’m probably not the right fit.

If you’re excited about watching the forecast, waiting for the right window, and getting the call when everything finally comes together, I’d love to have you on the list.

That’s the excitement of chasing tarpon.

Trip Details

  • Tarpon Trip

  • Artificial Lures Only

  • $1,200 per day

Because these trips are entirely condition-dependent, dates are not reserved on the calendar in advance. Instead, I’ll maintain a list and closely monitor weather, water clarity, wind, and fish activity. When conditions come together and create a legitimate sight-casting opportunity, I’ll begin contacting anglers on the list to discuss availability.

These opportunities often develop with relatively short notice, and flexibility is frequently the difference between simply wanting to tarpon fish and actually getting the chance to experience it under the right conditions.

Interested in joining the list? Complete the form below, and I’ll be in touch when the conditions line up.
